About Kalihwiyo
Kalihwiyo means "Good Message" in the Oneida language, and represents the power in spreading goodness. We wanted Kalihwiyo to be a place where we can promote goodness and influence the world around us to celebrate art, community and culture.
Not only is Kalihwiyo one of the only stores in Southwestern Ontario that exclusively features the works of Indigenous creatives and businesses, it is also run by local Indigenous artists and entrepreneurs.
Our vision was to create an Indigenous store that featured the wide range of works made by Indigenous artists. Currently, we have 32 Indigenous vendors from all over Canada, with unique items including beadwork, jewelry, books, art prints, blankets and more.

Meet the Creatives behind Kalihwiyo
Kalihwiyo was founded in 2024 by two Indigenous creatives: Alanah Jewell (Morningstar) of Oneida Nation of the Thames, and Luke Swinson of Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation. Their love for Indigenous art and community led them to open a shop featuring all Indigenous businesses.
Alanah and Luke both live in Kitchener, Ontario and organize local Indigenous Art Markets through I AM Kitchener. They are both full-time, established artists and have worked with international companies like Disney, Instagram, Facebook, Google, YouTube, Aritzia and more. Their dream is to help support other Indigenous artists, and advocate for Indigenous representation in urban spaces.
